I shared a tent with our Japanese guide, Shinji, who kindly offered me teriyaki chicken and rice for dinner (so I quietly put away my yummy cheese sticks - the Japanese climbers had THE BEST food on the mountain). Lakpa Nuru and I left camp for the summit last and late at 1:30am. We were supposed to leave at 1:00am. Everything takes longer in altitude and I took a stupid amount of time putting on my harness. Then I realized I was given two empty oxygen bottles for the summit climb. After replacing these, I decided to try to calm down and just leave last. It took me a while to regain my composure. Lakpa Nuru actually told me to slow down as we ascended to the balcony because he could tell I was a little nervous about leaving late.
