Donner to Squaw

We completed this beautiful 15.6 mile hike in September 2019. It has roughly 2,800 feet of elevation gain, starting on the Pacific Crest Trail at Donner Summit and ending on the Granite Chief Trail in Squaw Valley. We wanted to descend via the Squaw tram but unfortunately, it only runs on weekends in September. The long distance and car shuttle took the full day (6 h 15 m moving time + lunch, etc..). We saw dramatic skies and golden fields everywhere and met several PCT hikers along the way, including the family pictured here that had been on the trail since March. It was spectacular.
