Dolomites 2003

Photos primarily of climbing in the Dolomites in Italy in 2003. First we attempted Mont Blanc (15,771ft / 4,807m) in France but descended due to getting lost in poor weather. We had hoped to climb the Matterhorn via Cervinia (Italian side) but when we arrived we were told the mountain was too dangerous to climb. So we ended up via ferrata climbing in the Dolomites. Via Ferrata ("iron road") climbing is popular in Europe. A steel cable runs along the route and is periodically (every 3–10 m) fixed to the rock. And sometimes there are ladders. I took these photos using 35mm film and converted manually to digital images. I also tried merging three images into a panorama using Lightroom and it worked.
