Known as the Martis Creek Shepherd's Cabin, this abandoned wooden structure is located off Highway 267 in a pocket of aspen trees. It is heavily photographed in the fall, when the aspen leaves turn bright gold, then orange and red. With so many photographers visiting, I try to capture it at unusual times, like during a rare October snow storm or just before winter takes over. Or I have a little fun and make it my own by inserting my guitar into the frame. It seemed to belong.
