Shinji Tamura Photo - I'm not sure who this is but I looked about the same. Normally, we start up the Lhotse Face in the early morning shade. Today we were baking in our down suits. We wear the down suits in case there's a sudden change in temperature. The steep and icy Lhotse Face is not exactly a place where you can change your outfit. Although I was more acclimatized and stronger this second trip up, it took me about 9 hours to reach camp 3, 2 hours longer than my first trip, although that includes the time we waited with Jim. I had to stop at the first set of tents at camp 3 (ours were just above) for an hour with Woody just to refuel because I was spent. I'm extremely grateful to Woody for his support.
